Led by NSW fire and emergency service personnel alongside regional volunteers, the program focused on building confidence, resilience, and leadership. Students were encouraged to step out of their comfort zones, explore new skills, and work collaboratively in dynamic team settings.
The day included a special highlight—a helicopter landing on the school oval! Students were invited to climb aboard and learn about aerial firefighting strategies, thanks to the Forestry Corporation of NSW Bombala and Girls On Fire leaders Bronnie and Mel.
For Charli, the experience was eye-opening:
"It is good to learn because it might open up opportunities for the future. I wanted to experience new things and learn a little about what it's like in emergency services. It’s been really interesting bonding with new people and learning new things."
The day wouldn’t have been possible without the support of key emergency services, including:
- NSW Rural Fire Service
- NSW Fire + Rescue
- National Parks and Wildlife Service
- Forestry Corporation of NSW
Coordinated by JHS Careers, the program was a fantastic opportunity for students to explore potential career paths while developing valuable life skills. It was a day full of inspiration, teamwork, and unforgettable experiences!
