High potential and gifted education

At Jindabyne High School, we are committed to recognising and nurturing the talents, strengths and potential of every learner. Our High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) approach ensures that students are challenged, supported and inspired to reach their full potential across the intellectual, creative, social/emotional and physical domains.

Our commitment to HPGE is strengthened by a highly skilled teaching team, with 15 staff trained through the University of Sydney’s Mini Certificate in Gifted Education. These staff share this knowledge within their teams through collaborative planning and programming. This specialised training equips our teachers with advanced strategies to identify high potential, differentiate learning, and create rich, engaging opportunities for students to excel.

We also offer our ASCEND program, designed for aspirational and motivated students. ASCEND provides an environment where potential is recognised, explored and developed through high-challenge learning, targeted extension and enhanced academic support.

Beyond the classroom, Jindabyne High School offers an extensive suite of enrichment opportunities that reflect the breadth of student strengths. Whether through academic competitions, artistic showcases, leadership pathways or elite sporting programs, students are encouraged to pursue their passions and achieve at the highest level. These initiatives connect them to regional, state and national platforms, opening doors to wider experiences and building pathways to future success.

At Jindabyne High School, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to thrive and our HPGE approach ensures that high potential is not only identified, but celebrated and cultivated.
