NSW schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics. Approved providers deliver these, where available.
Write to the school if you wish to withdraw your child from special religious education, sometimes known as scripture. Special education in ethics is an option for your primary-age child if you withdraw them from special religious education. For more information, visit Religion and ethics.
On enrolment parents/carers will be given the SRE participation letter to complete and return. After the initial enrolment, notification of changes to a child's enrolment in SRE should be given, in writing, to the office.
At Jindabyne High School, Christian SRE is delivered for 30 minutes per fortnight. This started with year 7 in 2024 and in 2025 we will have year 7 and 8 engaging in the program.
During the time that SRE classes are being held, students not attending will participate in alternative meaningful activities under the supervision of a Classroom Teacher. Students will not be participating in lessons in the school curriculum or other extra-curricular activities during this time.
Special Religious Education (SRE): Combined Christian SRE
Christian SRE is provided by SRE teachers from the Combined Churches of Jindabyne. The approved provider in this combined arrangement is the Uniting Church of Australia. All Christian SRE teachers are authorised and trained by an approved provider.
