The competition unfolded with individual interviews, a platform for each participant to delve into current local topics. From their opinions on the Brumbies to discussions on the use of Nuclear Energy and the impact of Jindabyne's Seasonality, the students navigated through a spectrum of thought-provoking subjects.
Following the interviews, the students faced two unseen impromptu questions, touching on The Yes Vote Referendum and the influence of Large-Scale Events like the Taylor Swift Concert and the Matilda's performance in the Soccer World Cup.
Undeterred by the challenges, each student presented a prepared speech reflecting their unique perspectives and passions. Nate advocated for embracing the present moment and seizing life's opportunities, Catalina delved into the social and economic benefits of cultural events like the Taylor Swift Concert, while Hunter championed the ethos of carpe diem, urging others to say YES to opportunities.
Though the competition was fierce, and all participants demonstrated commendable skill and dedication, the Lions Youth of the Year title ultimately went to Charlotte Walker Boose from Snowy Mountains Grammar School. Congratulations to Charlotte and all students who took part, exemplifying the spirit of articulate, engaged youth. While the outcome may be a single victory, the collective effort and courage displayed by all participants serve as a testament to the bright future ahead.
